Great work paintguy, I love that kind of work.

But I was curious how you guy's do it.

I asume you start laying out the faces with different shades of white
Do you use candy colours to make the skin tones or opaque colours to go over the white?
I'd never painted in colour on a black surface and I want to try that.

thanks

well..on black... i blow up the artwork to the scale i want... i lay out sheets of chalk paper...white or grey. i tape the pic and chalk paper to the panel and trace as much as i can get off the printout onto the panel. when i pull the printout away all that is left is a white chalk outline of the whole face. i grab my hok over reduced white and fill in the face. once i get the highs and lows donein just white then ill come in with several brown mixes i make myself, ending with transparent candy rootbeer for the shadow areas
basically i draw light to dark until im done.

hope this helps.
